Danish-Indonesian Environmental Support Programme

These are some of the keywords that characterise the Danish-Indonesian Environmental Support Programme - ESP3.
ESP3 runs from 2013-18 with a total budget of 270M Danish kroner (~50M$US or 600B Rp) as a grant from the Danish Government implemented under the Danish Embassy in Indonesia. Through close cooperation with key central government agencies who have the potential to change "business as usual", ESP3 seeks to facilitate a gradual transformation towards a green economy. An economy which contributes to minimising Climate Change and prepares the country for coping with consequences of global warming.

Overview


ESP3 is coordinated by Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas) and implemented jointly by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. The Program also includes support to four individual forest and climate projects implemented by Burung Indonesia, The World Agroforestry Centre, and The World Bank.

Cooperation for improved environment and climate

ESP3 is a Danish/Indonesian inter-governmental cooperation based in key Government of Indonesia institutions on national level and in Central Java. Reflecting the interdisciplinary and inter-sectoral nature of environmental issues, ESP3 interventions are multifacetted and implemented in cooperation with several partners. The programme is hosted by Bappenas (Ministry of National Development Planning) and has Ministry of Environment and Forestry as the executing agency for Component 1 and Ministry of Energy and Minerals as the executing agency for Component 2. Ministry of Environment and Forestry has a coordinating role for natural resource management projects under Component 3. ESP3 also cooperates with Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Public Works, Coordinating Ministry of Economic Affairs, and Ministry of Finance.
